General Contracting

C.T. Taylor has a long history of being successful in the competitive hard dollar bid area. Sometimes referred to as the design-bid-build project delivery method, traditional general contracting is well suited to the management and craft resources C.T. Taylor has to brought to the table. Scheduling, Quality, Cost Management and Safety are paramount to the successful performance of today’s sophisticated building systems. Although it may be old fashioned, we have found over the years that the ability to do the work with our in-house skilled crafts people has make us better managers.

Construction Management

In addition to traditional general contracting and design/build, C.T. Taylor offers construction management services as a Construction Manager Advisor, or an “at risk” Construction Manager.

Our hands on experience at self performance, makes us a superior partner in this team approach to construction. Having years of continued hands on contact with our projects is vital to the valuable input we provide at the earliest phases of the project. Our project managers and superintendents are more efficient at scheduling and maintaining quality assurance because they know first hand how things should be done.

Design Build

The fundamental principle of the design/build project delivery method is to provide you, the owner a single source of responsibility and accountability with design/build, the project budget is developed concurrently with design at the earliest stages. The owner is presented with multiple options early in the process which optimizes that potential to create a greater value of the project.

While the design/build owner and design professional work as an integrated team, C.T. Taylor is solely responsible to the owner for all phases of design and construction including aesthetics, “brick and mortar” costs, life cycle costs, operating costs, governmental reviews and permitting, quality, scheduling, warranties and cash flow.

Design/build has a proven record of delivering facilities more rapidly than the traditional design – bid – build process, thus minimizing the cost of capital. The team approach offers the flexibility to identify and order long lead items in order to reduce exposure to price fluctuation’s, compress the schedule and minimize weather related impact.

For owners that wish to actively participate in a team approach to construct their facility from concept to turnover, design/build is an ideal method.

Pre Construction Services

No matter which project delivery method works best for you, C.T. Taylor offers a wide range of pre-construction services. Our intimate knowledge of the nuts and bolts of the construction process enhances the value of services such as comparative cost studies, value engineering, preliminary critical path scheduling and subcontractor pre-qualifications. When, for example, we compare the cost of a structural steel structure to a cast in-place or pre-cast structure, we maintain historical costs from our own experience rather than rely on outside estimating services.

In what we consider to be the most important phase of the project, our project team will guide you through the many alternative construction means and methods to provide you with the greatest value, as value is defined by you, the customer.

Green Building

At C. T. Taylor, we are meeting the needs of a growing community and providing green buildings. Through Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEEDTM) Green Building rating system and in conjunction with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) (www.usgbc.org), we can help you meet the ever changing demands of being an environmentally conscious owner.

Green Building is the choice that an owner, architect, general contractor and their subcontractors make in an effort to consider the environment during the construction and subsequent occupancy of a project. “Green Building” is a term to describe the design, construction, occupancy and maintenance of a building to significantly reduce or eliminate the impact on the environment. This can include reuse or recycling of materials, use of rapidly renewable resources, energy efficient lighting and HVAC systems, alternate energy sources and redevelopment of existing building sites.

The benefits of green buildings can include improved air and water quality, reduction of landfill waste thru recycling, reduced energy costs and in some instances tax incentives. All of these items are important to consider when planning your project. At C. T. Taylor we strive to bring our expertise to the table and help everyone become a little greener.
